Make-Up Bag: The Travel Edition

IMG_3471In a few hours I’ll be up in a plane headed to London for the weekend. One of my closest friends lives there and I had planned a visit ever since he moved but never got around to doing it. Until now! So for the occasion I thought I’d share what I packed in my toiletry bag.

IMG_3475For a fresh start in the morning I like to take a quick shower. Normally I’m one hundred percent team ‘shower at night, sleep an extra 5 minutes’. However, when I’m up early anyway ready to explore the city, I’d rather feel fresh and clean as well. For travel, especially since I am traveling with only a carry-on …good-bye  big bottles I picked up a couple of miniature versions of products I haven’t tried yet. I think this is actually quite a nice way to testing things you are curious about but don’t want to fully commit yet. So here we have John Frieda’s Go Blonder shampoo, which is apparently supposed to lighten your hair. We’ll see about that! Then for conditioner I picked Schwarzkopf’s Essence Ultime, just because I liked scent and packaging. I quite like Dove scents and their shower gels are really moisturizing so I grabbed this one up. For body moisturizer I just love The Body Shop’s Body Butters. Especially the olive range! The scent is really nice and neutral, which is the downside to most other Body Shop products. Lastly, we have the Soapwalla Deodorant Cream, that I mentioned in my last post. It’s small, lightweight and does a good job at preventing any smelly discomfort.

Taking care of the face department prior to any make-up application I picked up a little container to pour in some of my beloved Bioderma. I have the 500ml bottle and that is just way too big to carry (plus, airport regulations)! To take my make-up off or go in for a good cleanse I use some cotton pads.
My moisturizers shouldn’t come as a surprise if you have read my July Favorites. They’re really great in combination and I wouldn’t swap them right now.
I always have a few cotton buds flying around my bag to fix any eyeliner accidents or smudge out shadows along the lash line.

Now onto the part that you’ve most likely clicked this post for: the make-up. To apply my make-up I have chosen three brushes, the Real Techniques Buffing Brush for foundation, the Real Techniques Setting Brush for the application of blush (Sephora, Orange Pop), and a really old The Body Shop brush to contour and bronze my skin (Sleek, Contour Kit). Unfortunately the last one has been discontinued ages ago but any big fluffy brush would do the job! I chose to bring two foundations for all activities. The Diorskin BB Creme in 002- Fair for the day, a moisturizing thin layer that evens out small imperfections, and my beloved Loreal True Match foundation for any occasion that requires a little more coverage. Then we have the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in 02, Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme mascara in brown and my favorite brow pencil by MAC in Fling. I used to use this a few years ago but pretty much flew through them so I opted for a cheaper version. However, when I can’t deal with the faff of bringing powders or gels I fall back on this one. The formula and shade are perfect and I should really start using this more often again. Last but not least we have my current favorite scent Eau des Merveiles by Hermès.

I’m curious to hear about your travel essentials! And what is one destination you would head right now if you could?

    • Oops just seen this now 🙂 London was great! It’s always nice to have friends all over the world so you get to experience cities from another point of view. Off the beaten track so to say
