Today’s Four

4

1. I’ve put together a little collage of my day thus far. I recently got these Birkenstock look-a-likes from H&M that I actually much prefer to the original ones. They’re a bit slimmer so they don’t make my feet look humongous and for a fraction of the price it doesn’t matter whether I actually try out the trend or decide it’s not really my cup of tea. These orange mirrored sunglasses that I got last year proved to be a great investment. They just spice up any outfit and guarantee some stares in the streets.

2. Why reserve fresh sheets for the weekends? I love making the middle of the week a little more exciting by changing sheets. I have to admit though, this has only become a habit during the vacation as I usually don’t have enough time to do this during the week on regular days.

3. After applying my make-up this morning I got a bit silly and pulled some faces, trust me you don’t want to see the rest of these haha! Anyway, this goes to you lovely folks who actually read the stuff that I post.

4. Now that I have a bit more time on my hands I actually prefer waking up a little earlier than the rest of the house so I can have a few minutes to myself, reading, drinking tea and snacking on some delicious fruit, like these wild peaches. I’ve mentioned The Fault in Our Stars before but it’s just too good to not make another appearance on here.

What’s your summer weekly routine? Any more books I should give a go?

Monday’s Mani

IMG_3221I like to begin the new week with a fresh coat of lacquer on my nails. It’s a nice sunday ritual and makes me feel put together and ready for a new week. For this week’s mani I’ve opted for Essie’s Marshmallow, a nice light white that definitely needs some layering – here I’ve applied three coats. Usually any polish will chip within a couple of days so for the rest of the week I like to allow my nails to breathe. However, I’ve recently discovered Essie’s No Chips Allowed  and thought I’d give this a go to see whether it would hold its promise. I can’t say anything about it yet as I’m still testing it out but I’ll give you a quick update towards the end of the week.

Additions to the Beauty Shelf

IMG_3181
As mentioned in my morning skin care routine post, I was eyeing the Kiehl’s Light Daily UV Defense SPF 5o for the summer. Turns out the lovely folks over at Parfümerie Pieper, a German perfumery, must have heard my requests and popped out a whopping 20% discount on everything on their site using the code JuSum22RA. Taking the opportunity I sneakily also put the Clarins Eclat Minute in 01 Reflet Rose in my virtual basket. This little fella has been put in and out of my shopping bag innumerable times after hearing so many great things about it but with the discount code I finally caved. They arrived two days after purchase with a lovely note  by the woman who packaged it and some nice samples.

The other day I also discovered the beauty aisle of my local TK Maxx and saw Estelle & Thild‘s night cream. I’ve read about the brand before and it is clear that they have three solid facts working for them, apart from the super organic products obviously. 1) They happen to incorporate my second name which I find quite rad, 2) They’re situated in Stockholm – hello future home base, and 3) super adorable packaging! I haven’t used this as I am currently trying out the Avene Cleanance K range, which I will post about soon!

I’ll keep you updated on my opinions. I’m curious, what are your latest purchases?

The Liebster Award

liebster-award3

After blogging for a little while now I thought you might be interested in getting to know me a little better. The Liebster Award is being given to bloggers with less than 200 followers and a nice way to connect smaller bloggers with each other, helping to grow a bigger audience. Thank you Emma for tagging me! And I hope the girls I nominate spread the love ♡

First off, the rules:
– Thank the blogger who nominated you
– Write 11 random facts about yourself
– Answer the questions they set you
– Nominate 11 bloggers with under 200 followers to answer your own set of questions

A Beach Guide

BEACHfinal
While summer certainly isn’t my favorite season of ’em all (I’m the typical September, October weather kind of girl), I do enjoy the sound of waves and smell of salt that a day at the beach comes with. For those of you lucky enough to make that a hobby I’ve picked a couple of my current faves that would look lovely in front of the sea scenery (sea-nery..? Too much? Oops I thought so).

Yellow is probably my favorite color for a day at the beach. It’s light, so it doesn’t attract the sun too much and looks great in combination with other (bright) colors. Here I’ve picked a yellow straw hat by Sensi Studio to match the handy beach tote by Topshop. This blue Motel dress compliments most body shapes and covers the shoulders: one area that I usually burn after a day out and thus something I like to cover up on the way home.
Comfy espadrilles, these ones are by trusty Topshop again, pick up on the fun color of those gorgeous Miu Miu sunglasses. How cool is this shape and the glitter? swoon…

I think you can’t really go wrong with a cute printed bathing suit, so this polka-dotted version by H&M (shhh… on sale right now!) ticks that box just right.

Now, the only thing I am missing is a good beach read. After re-reading The Fault in Our Stars about three times it’s time to move on (seriously, read it. It’s THAT good!). I’ve been coveting Robyn Schneider’s “The Beginning of Everything” – has anyone of you read it and can recommend it?

What are your sartorial beach essentials? A beauty bag follow-up is already in the making!
